The Hiwinui Heke Scholarships are jointly sponsored by PHARMAC and MPA. The awards are the first scholarships ever made available to Māori pharmacy students.
These scholarships are named after our Te Arawa kaumatua Hiwinui Heke who was the first Māori Pharmacist graduating in 1955 and contributing significantly to Māori and the Rotorua rohe as an influential leader and advocate. Tēnei te mihi aroha e te Rangatira.
We acknowledges PHARMAC for helping us realise the dream of having scholarships for pharmacy students of Māori descent.
Available to students of New Zealand Māori descent enrolled and studying full-time for the full year at the Otago School of Pharmacy or the Auckland School of Pharmacy studying toward the undergraduate degree of the Bachelor of Pharmacy, applications are open mid July 2015 and awarded in August.
