Help us develop an education resource for pharmacy

You are invited to participate in research which uses a video to present Māori experiences and perceptions of pharmacists’ role in supporting medicines access.

The video has been developed using research findings and we would like to know how useful this video is as an education tool, and as a tool to reflect on practice.  It has been developed for pharmacists and pharmacy staff. It focuses on medicines adherence and minor ailment treatment for Māori.

This activity has been developed so that, for many, it will meet pharmacist recertification requirements relating to Keeping Up To Date, Towards Culturally Safe Practice, and Reflections on Practice. You will be able to download your answers which will provide evidence for your MyRecert portfolio.

If you participate in this research, you will be asked to watch a 10-minute video then complete a reflective exercise. As this research involves a reflective exercise, we recommend that you put aside 30-40 minutes to complete this survey.

We ask you forward this on to other pharmacy staff who you think may be interested so they have the option to participate too.

A full Participant Information Sheet is attached. If you would like to participate, please click here for the link and you will be taken to a consent form and the survey.

If you have any questions, please contact Joanna Hikaka j.hikaka@auckland.ac.nz.

This survey will close for responses on 4th December 2022.

Further Continuing Professional Development activities

For those of you interested in further reading regarding Māori and medicines adherence, here is an article that our research team wrote.

This exercise may also prompt an activity that you can work on in more detail as part of your Professional Development plan.

We hope this resource is useful and look forward to seeing responses.

Ngā mihi,

Jo Hikaka.
