Kia Ora Koutou

We encourage members to take up the opportunity to attend the upcoming NZHPA MICP sig meeting in Auckland on the 7th and 8th of May (registrations close Friday 15th April). The full programme can be found HERE but we wanted to draw your attention to two presentations in particular.

The main teaching will be workshop style with presentations as well as the chance to interact with colleagues to discuss medicine related problems.

Dr Maryanne Baker will be presenting on Palliative Care in the context of Maori culture

Our President Jo Hikaka will be presenting with her colleague, Bernadette Rehman on the following topic:

An overview of polypharmacy and why we should consider deprescribing in the elderly – a discussion of high risk medication groups, what the evidence says and some tools used to rationalise medication use. Particular attention will be given to patient-centered care and the importance of engaging whanau in the health care process.
